Organisational Development

  • For Spar Zambia Ltd: Development of organisational structure and roles and responsibilities for Super Spar Arcades.  Recruitment of key managerial and professional staff for Spar Arcades and other stores as part of a major expansion programme (ongoing).  Delivery of initial training.
  • For MAERSK: Development and delivery of a two-day focused Team Development workshop for the Maersk Zambia team
  • For The Ghana Health Service: Assessment of Systems and Structure in the Ghana Health Service for conducting health communication, advocacy and public relations activities
  • For The Southern Water and Sewerage Company: A review of the structure and staffing of the organisation with recommendations for improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.  A review of Conditions of Service with recommendations for controlling costs.
  • For The National Food and Nutrition Commission: A Management Audit of Structure, Services and Staff with recommendations for the future development of the organisation.  Development of a restructuring programme.
  • For Hybrid Poultry Farms (Z) Ltd: Review of Organisation Structure, Grading System and Conditions of Service.  Development of Performance Management System
  • For Madison Insurance: Development and delivery of a team and planning retreat for the senior management team of the organisation.
  • For NWASCO: Development and delivery of workshops for Minimum Service Levels, Corporate Governance, Reporting, Business Planning and Tariffs within the water sector in Zambia. The workshops were delivered to eight regional water utilities in Zambia.
  • For HODI: Facilitation of a review of the Strategic Plan of the organisation and the production of an updated plan.
  • For the African Wildlife Foundation: Development and delivery of a two day Team Building workshop for the staff of the Four Corners Transboundary Natural Resources Management (TBNRM) area initiative.
  • For DFID-SA: Development and facilitation of Team Building workshops for the DFID Field offices in Namibia and Botswana.  Follow-on workshop Namibia.
  • For ZAMCOM: Review of organisation structure and staffing.  Review of Performance Appraisal system for the organisation, development of new Appraisal System.  Development and delivery of training programme for the implementation of performance appraisal system.
  • For the Ministry of Tourism: Facilitation at a series of workshops for the transformation of the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) into the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA).
  • For Management Development Division, Cabinet Office: Design and facilitation of a 5-day refresher workshop in Strategic Planning, Organisational Design and Performance Appraisal.
  • For VSO Zambia: Development and facilitation of a Team Building Workshop and Retreat for the staff of VSO Zambia.

Quality Management Systems

  • For Mercury Couriers Limited: Development of a Quality Manual and Procedures as part of the process of gaining ISO9000:2000 certification.
  • For PMTC (Zambia) Limited: Development and implementation of ISO9001 for the company. Certification gained in January 2000.
  • For Chilanga Cement PLC: Development and delivery of a series of workshops on ISO9000 and Customer Care.
  • For Zambia Bottlers: Facilitation of a Team Building workshop for the Core Team responsible for implementation of the Coca-Cola Quality System.
  • For the Tea Research Foundation (Central Africa) based in Malawi: Mission to determine the impact of ISO 9000 on the Malawi Tea Industry.

Individual Development

  • For NWASCO: Development and delivery of a 3 week Training of Trainers course for staff of the Commercial Water Utilities in Zambia.
  • For Zega Training Trust: development and delivery of an Action Centred Team Development workshop.
  • For Zambia Bottlers: Development and delivery of a Team Building workshop for the junior and middle management teams of the organisation.
  • For Sun International: Developed and delivered a series of training courses for the intended staff of the new Falls resort complex in Livingstone.  Courses were Customer Care, Telephone Skills and Information Technology.  Courses were Introductory Information Technology, Customer Relations and Telephone Skills.
  • For the Zambia State Insurance Corporation: Delivery of introductory management training for middle management of the Corporation.
  • For the Zambia Revenue Authority: Development and delivery of training courses for the Senior Management Development and General training programmes.
  • For Madison Insurance (Zambia) Limited: Development and delivery of a phased training programme for senior and middle management.  Subjects covered included Customer Care, Introductory Management, and Communication.
  • For the Regional Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Programme (RTTCP) at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare: Development and delivery of Introductory Management Module as part of a specialist MSc programme.
Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
  • For UNDP Kabul, Afghanistan AIMS (Afghanistan Information Management Services) GIS Technical Manager Delivery of capacity development services to Government of Afghanistan (GIS focussed). Design and Implementation of capacity development strategies for geospatial expansion in the Government of Afghanistan.   Development of concept papers and resource mobilization for the implementation of geospatial science degrees in the universities in Afghanistan.  Implementation of geospatial capacity development strategies and cost recovery methodologies for the AIMS project and GIS staff.  Establishment of key development partners including USGS and ESRI for the establishment of both NSDI and ESRI authorized trainers.
  • For Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) (with Carlbro A/S) Study and evaluation of current GIS data, strategy development for data collection, assessment and planning of training and software acquisition, and production, design and delivery of Inception Report. 
  • For AHC-MMC (with Norconsult A/S) Design, development and production of a GIS spatial database, and hard copy maps of geology, water resources and topography of the Upper Kafue Catchments area for the Upper Kafue Water Resources Assessment and Management Project (WRAM) 
  • For Dept of Forestry (Lusaka) Design, development and implementation of a GIS database of designated forest areas in Zambia.
  • For Ministry for Coordination of Environmental Affairs (Mozambique) Development of land use and vegetation classification using remotely sensed imagery for marine and terrestrial biodiversity.
  • For Zambia Ornithological Society (ZOS)  Design of series of 33 thematic maps of Important Birds Areas (IBAs) for the Zambian IBA Book.
  • For Central Statistical Office: Design, development and implementation of a GIS database for all Standard Enumeration Areas for Zambia (Approx. 17000).  Provision of 10 day ARCGIS training workshop for CSO staff.
  • For Ministry of Local Government and Housing: Development of GIS functional classification for all Urban Areas of Zambia
  • For Ministry of Tourism: GIS Training and data development.
  • For Ministry of Local Government and Housing:  Development of roads and feeder roads GIS for Zambia.
  • For Ministry of Energy and Water (the Water Development Board):  Development of information system for Water Resources Action Program (WRAP) inception report.
  • For Road Sector Programme Support:  Population, road network and analysis, district profiles for Lusaka-Mumbwa-Mongu corridor.
  • For Environmental Council of Zambia: Development of animal distribution maps for Luangwa Valley.
  • For JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency – Zambia): Mapping and analysis of population distribution in Choma District and Western Province.
  • For ZATAC (Zambia Agri-business Technical Assistance Center): Development of analytical maps to determine areas for agri-business expansion.
  • For Zambezi River Authority: Establishment of a GIS unit within the Authority.  GIS support for the Zambezi River Basin Management Plan.  Provided in-country management and logistical support and managed the GIS component of the programme. 
  • For the Zambezi River Authority:  Responsible for the creation, production and distribution of the Zambezi River Basin Atlas, CD and Data Dictionary.
  • For the Government of Botswana:  Development, design and delivery of ARC/INFO GIS course to staff members of the Ministry of Agriculture.
  • For the Government of Bhutan Environmental Sector Programme Support (ESPS):  Provided Focal Consultant for the GIS and Remote Sensing component of the programme.  Responsibilities included Team Building and Capacity Development, development and delivery of training courses in GIS and remote senseing.
  • For the Government of Bhutan Provision of GIS support to the LUPP (Land Use Planning Project) Ministry of Agriculture: Development of a methodology to enable the mapping of radiation in mountainous regions; review of the technical and economic sustainability of the GIS section within the Ministry; provision of advanced GIS training and support using ARC/INFO and IDRISI.
  • For the Governments of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan:  Management and co-ordination of a project to install GIS systems in five Central Asian countries.   Also responsible for the provision of advanced GIS workshop in the 3 countries.  This process involved the training of an interpreter in GIS and facilitation of the workshops with delegates who spoke little English.
